A massive winter storm is causing frigid temperatures, widespread power outages, and treacherous road conditions across the Southeast this weekend and is expected to continue through Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

According to the Alabama Power Outage Map, as of 8 a.m., there are 217 outages. Out of 1,603,477 customers served, the map says 6,480 customers are affected.

Montgomery saw tree damage, downed lines and power outages as cold weather storms and wind gusts struck the area Sunday.

The outage map reports Montgomery County has 179 active outages affecting 10,386 customers.

Some customers in Marshall and Jackson counties are facing outages due to downed trees, the North Alabama Electric Cooperative said.
