With temperatures dropping in parts of South Florida this week starting Tuesday night, local officials activated their cold weather emergency plans. The National Weather Service said a cold front moving through the region Tuesday will bring in cooler air overnight.

Highs today will reach the middle and upper 50s for areas northwest of I-4 and closer to the low 60s for areas along and southeast of I-4.

Aside from the fog, today will feel much like recent days, with mild temperatures and quiet weather as a strong cold front approaches from the north.
Once the front passes, temperatures will fall fast. We’re talking a 40 to 50-degree drop from Sunday afternoon to Monday morning, with lows in the 30s and wind chills below freezing. Monday stays cold and blustery, with highs only in the 40s and wind chills in the 30s for the afternoon.
The coldest temperatures this week will occur just before dawn Wednesday morning, followed by a big warming of temperatures on Friday and Saturday.
Houston temperatures will plummet to near-freezing levels, but don’t worry about those chilly temperatures lasting longer than a few days.
