Starting January 2026, Amazon will let DRM-free KDP titles be downloaded as EPUB and PDF files, though authors must opt in for older books and concerns over piracy may push some toward enabling DRM.
Kindle users will be able to download specific titles they've bought as a PDF or EPUB file next year, but only if the author permits it.
From 20th January 2026, Amazon will enable titles published without Digital Rights Management to be downloaded in EPUB or PDF format.
